Lucy Allen, PhD, BCTMB, CMLDT, CHTP

LLucy founded Oncology Massage in the Carolinas after seeing a need to match up oncology massage therapists with people with a history of cancer.  She has been a licensed massage therapist since 2005, and trained in oncology massage since 2008. A member of the Society for Oncology Massage since 2009, she brought massage to the Cancer Center at St. Francis in 2012 with the guidance of Greet the Day. She taught for Greet the Day/Institute for Integrative Oncology from 2015-17.  She also continues to work directly with cancer patients at Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center. In addition to training in oncology massage, she has advanced education in working on scar tissue on post mastectomy patients, manual lymph drainage (from Klose), and 5 years experience working with Interim Hospice providing comfort massage to patients at home.

Kathy brings experience to the classroom as an oncology nurse and as a breast cancer survivor.  She has 13 years’ experience in Oncology as Clinical Nurse, Charge Nurse & Nurse Mentor. She attended one of the first classes at St. Francis for Oncology Massage and has provided hand and foot massages to patients receiving chemotherapy, working as a volunteer on her days off.  She has served as class assistant in subsequent massage classes and also assisted with research for grant funding for infusion massage. She provides the clinical and medical background to the training with insight into treatment related effects for cancer patients.
